WalkingFit program ending, Launching new and improved program Fall 2017

The campus-wide WalkingFit program began in 2007 and encourages UCR faculty and staff to walk their way to a healthier body. 

Walk and Talk with Leadership Series 2017

A monthly 30-minute walk and talk with UCR leadership.  All walks will meet at the Scotty the Bear statue. View the 2017 Schedule of Walks and Leaders.

Walking and Standing Meeting Guides

Interested in trying out a walking meeting?  Our handy Walking Meeting Guidelines can help you have a successful and productive meeting on the go. Or take a stand with a standing meeting.View our standing meeting guidelines to help you have a more active meeting.

Stretch Poster

Stretch posters are available from the Wellness Program for display in your office, conference room, break room, or next to the office copy machine.  The poster features models from the Human Resources department demonstrating easy stretches that you can do throughout the workday.  Contact to receive a free poster (posters are 18" x 24").

StairWell Signs

Free StairWell posters are available from the Wellness Program to be posted next to elevators throughout campus.  The signs are to encourage stair use by offering a gentle reminder at the moment when someone is making a decision whether to take the elevator or the stairs.  Contact to receive free laminated StairWell signs to post in your building (must receive permission from Building Supervisor prior to posting signs).

Instant Recess Breaks

Incorporate 10-minute exercise breaks during lengthy meetings or any time of the day with Instant Recess™ breaks created by Dr. Antronette Yancey, UCLA.

Alternative Transportation Programs

A variety of alternative transportation programs and services are available to UCR faculty, staff, and students, including programs for those who walk or bike to work, those who use public transportation, and those interested in joining a vanpool.   

Walking Map

This walking map has 4 walking routes around the UCR campus mapped out.  Ranging from a 10 minute walk to a longer 45 minute walk, pick a path to walk today and let's get moving.  

UCR Recreation

The Recreation department at UCR offers an expanded Recreation Center Facility, Outdoor Excursion programs and events, a variety of fitness and wellness classes, and personal training services at all UCR faculty and staff.  Visit the website to learn more about all they have to offer.   

Physical Activity Guidelines

Being physically active is one of the most important steps that Americans of all ages can take to improve their health. The 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans provides science-based guidance to help Americans aged 6 and older improve their health through appropriate physical activity.
