Post-rehabilitation Program
The Post-Rehabilitation Program is a voluntary three-month work conditioning exercise program conducted at the Student Recreation Center. This program consists of a combination of cardiovascular, strengthening, stretching and/or core stabilization exercises.
This program is intended for employees who have
- suffered an injury, or
- had an illness, or
- underwent surgery
** Eligibility: Industrial and Non Work related Orthopedic injuries only
and who have:
- completed their physical therapy or rehabilitation
- returned to work (either full work duty or with work restrictions) but are still in need of improving their physical strength to meet their job demands and to prevent re-injury
The program is designed to:
- Provide strengthening and functional endurance training for employees who have been medically released to work, but have not yet reached "full" recovery from their injury.
- Provide improved recovery and increased fitness levels for previously injured employees.
In each case, the program improves the employees' ability to safely perform customary job duties post-injury and reduces the risk of re-injury.
Employees receive an injury assessment from qualified personnel, which determines the physical impairments, identifies risk and provides an exercise prescription and specific health program goals.
The prescribed exercise program includes a weekly workout at the Student Recreation Center that is directly supervised by SRC fitness personnel. The employee independently attends two additional exercise sessions per week at the SRC.
Each participant is re-assessed upon completion of the program. All exercise sessions are conducted outside of normal work hours.
